The Habitat ReStore depends on enthusiastic volunteers for everything from helping customers to arranging merchandise. Whether you enjoy interacting with the public or prefer tinkering behind the scenes, chances are that we have a volunteer opportunity for you. Habitat for Humanity volunteers - both on construction sites and in Habitat ReStores - have helped more than 500,000 families realize the dream of owning a simple, decent, affordable home. Join us in our mission to eliminate poverty housing in our community and the world by volunteering at the Habitat ReStore.

Driver Helper

Do you enjoy the open road? Hop in one of our fleet vehicles and get moving into the field and help keep our inventory plush with goodies! Interact with our donors, and aid in the removal of items from their homes into our ReStores. Responsibilities include: heavy lifting of furniture, appliances, electronics, building materials and housewares. Loading & unloading of vehicles, basic organization of our loading docks and merchandising of large items into the showroom. Able-bodied individuals are recommended. Hand-truck, dollies and pallet jack equipment use is required.  

Donation Processing

Volunteer where it all begins. At our donation drop-off area, you can mingle with our donors, prepare tax receipts, clean newly donated goods and price them appropriately to help use earn more wall-raising revenue! Responsibilities include: cleaning small household items, miscellaneous knick-knacks and wall art. Testing devices that include but are not limited to; appliances, electronics, lamps and battery operated goods. Maintain a clean & safe sorting area, while merchandising the smaller items on our showroom floor. Work alongside our staff members, following the pricing guidelines to ensure consistency. 

Handyman

Have a knack for tools and minor repairs? Join us in our sorting area to evaluate donations that may be in need of a little TLC. Responsibilities include: repairing minor damage to donations, construction or repair of store used items, testing & repair to appliances, electronics or yard tools (lawnmower, leaf blower etc.), hanging pictures, help maintain safe & clean sorting area and aid in showroom organization when needed.

Merchandising

Join us in the everyday challenge of making order out of chaos; help merchandise our showroom! Assist our staff as we create new and inventive ways for our product to stand out in an attractive but safe fashion. Give a quick dust or polishing and make our donations glimmer with hopes of being sold. Responsibilities include: overall merchandising of select categories based on inventory levels, creative displays for housewares and smaller items including but not limited to; books, knick-knacks, lamps and miscellaneous décor.

Facilities Maintenance

1st impressions are everything; lend a helping hand to aid in keeping our facility looking tip-top! Ensure our showroom and grounds are clean & organized. Responsibilities include: cleaning or vacuuming upholstered furniture, polishing wood items, cleaning glass tables and mirrors, sweeping or mopping showroom floor, organizing yard & scrap area. Help keep donation area free of obstacles to ensure quick & efficient drop-offs.

Dispatcher

Interested in keeping our trucks full of stuff?! Come work the dispatch desk and help us route our fleet for donation pick-ups! Responsibilities include: answering donor questions politely & professionally, completing donor pick-ups forms, filing paperwork for each truck route, informing donors of our pick-up guidelines and maintaining a clean work environment. Volunteers with strong organizational & multi-tasking skills are recommended.

Customer Services

Do enjoy helping a shopper find what they need? You may be a perfect candidate for being a presence on our showroom floor. Help shoppers navigate and discover that hidden treasure! Responsibilities include: greeting shoppers & donors upon arrival, providing guidance to the correct department, aiding showroom merchandising of items, help maintain clean displays, stocking  product from the sorting area to showroom and helping shoppers to their vehicles after purchases.

Social Media

Technology is moving fast these days. Help us keep up the pace! This brand new position is now available to ensure the ReStore is utilizing all avenues available for success. Help manage & maintain accounts with Craigslist, Pintrest and Ebay. Responsibilities include: posting photos of items for sale on our Craigslist & Ebay accounts (manage accounts appropriately), uploading new data to Pintrest on a regular basis, working with our PR Director to have new & interesting posts that can be uploaded to our Facebook & Twitter feeds.

Volunteer Coordinator

Are you a natural born leader? Do you enjoy making other people happy? Can you lead a large group to achieve success? If so, the Habitat ReStore could be your next vehicle to garner success. Responsibilities include: helping the Volunteer Director provide orientations, completing all volunteer paperwork, ensuring all policies & procedures are understood before a new volunteer starts and collecting all volunteer hour logs and turned into the Volunteer Director. Act as a liaison and leader between the volunteers and staff members. Utilize your leadership qualities to inspire a group that understands and is willing to help the mission.
